Dragon Revelations

Black Dragon Jamesu has won seven stages of Blade Ukita's sword fighters challenge. After winning the latest round, Jamesu is greeted by a man who he hasn't seen in years, a man names Shou Fong. Fong has been a close aide to his father, The Great Dragon Tomasu Kamihoto, for many years. Jamesu greets Fong and they decided to have dinner together in the village. Fong is glad to see Jamesu after more than ten years. Fong asks about (Princess) Meiko and (Royal Dragon) Juno. As they discuss the past, Fong says he has information that he wishes to reveal to Jamesu, information that he has held back for the past nine years. Jamesu is baffled on why Fong would hold back any information involving his father. Fong says, "I have to tell you about the true nature of your father's death. I hope you are willing to take this information without jumping to conclusions."

Jamesu and Fong leave the tavern after their dinner and head to the river's edge. Jamesu asks, "I'm puzzled by why you didn't come to me sooner. And I really want to know what you have to say of my father's death. I and my siblings were told that he died in battle while leading the invasion of the Chiang Republic in 1996." Fong says, "I was one of his chief advisors when (Emperor) Sing Do Sho gave us orders to invade the Chiang. Tomasu was very leery of this attack. He believed this invasion was pointless and it would only bring death to innocent people. He believed Sing was trying to send him on a suicide mission with far too little troops. We were to invade the south branch with only 350 troops. The northern force had 2700." Jamesu says, "I know that but I heard he was able to concur the Chiang forces before being shot dead by the Chiang ninja leader Simoto's arrow." Fong says, "Simoto and your father did fight but your father beat him and Simato was later executed. Let me tell you the full details."

Fong begins, "In November 1996, Sing Do Sho gives us our mission, to invade the southern flanks of the Chiang Republic. Tomasu was to lead this mission with 350 troops. He was to march onto the Chiang capital and meet the northern Kogasuma forces their. Tomasu was very concerned with only having 350 troops. In late November, we got the troops that were intended to fight with us. They were mainly ex-prisoners and rejected troops from the northern division. Tomasu was very angry with this. He believed Sing was now out to send him on a mission he could succeed in. Tomasu and Sing had issues for many years and Tomasu knew Sing wanted him dead. Tomasu was determined to succeed though, even with these troops. He had to do it for the honor of his nation. On December 5 we invaded. After our first battle, a revolt within the ranks occurred when many of the troops wanted to kill and rape the civilians in the nearby villages. Tomasu was not going to have that. He fought them nearly single handily. He was almost fifty-years-old but could fight like a twenty-five-year-old. He was badly injured in this brawl, but was able to kill or injure those who started the revolt. He was very tired with trying to ease tension between the troops and our senior staff. A few days later, we had to fight in a huge battle and almost half of our force were killed. Tomasu lead the charge in battle. We would fight battles like that for days, loosing many of our troops and Tomasu had to spend his down time fighting his very troops because they wanted to enact revenge on the civilians. I never knew where Tomasu got his energy but he continued to fight on. When the Chiang Republic fell on December 12, we were at the capital's border, having completed the mission. When our meager force entered the city to meet the northern Kogasuma forces, they were shocked that we survived. Tomasu went to confront Simoto that night in the main fortress. A lengthy fight ensued and Tomasu was badly injured but he was able to arrest Simoto. Many of the northern troops start calling him, The Great Dragon, after seeing him defeat Simoto and how he lead a rebellious division of troops to victory. "

"By December 15, Simato was executed. Tomasu didn't want this since he thought Simato was only trying to defend his president. Tomasu also didn't want news of his success to be revealed to Sing Do Sho. After the battle, he wanted to meet Sing Do Sho personally. He felt totally betrayed. Sing Do Sho ordered a viscous attack on the civilians later that week and Tomasu secretly help many of them hide. I was Tomasu's point man on that mission. Tomasu was full of fury after this. He told me he may loose his life if he confronts Sing, but he will let him know of his disapproval. When the Chiang president was hanged on December 23, Tomasu secretly informed the Kogasuma division chief that he was heading to the Royal palace to meet Sing Do Sho."

"On December 26, Tomasu arrived at the Royal palace. When he entered, many gasps as he hoppled in, they couldn't believe he had survived. Many of the news reports had said he died bravely in battle in December 13. Tomasu's right leg had been shot with an arrow and he had difficulty walking. He stormed into the royal families chamber and met Sing Do Sho. Sing was utterly shocked. Tomasu yelled with a booming voice that he was set up on a suicide mission, with felon troops, and with orders to kill and rape the civilians. He told Sing, he would have been better off working for (CM) Lord Hamuru. Sing was furious with this outburst. He stood from his throne and yells he wouldn't be talked to like a barking dog. He was the emperor and Tomasu would be stripped of his rank. Tomasu roared with discuss. Sing then ordered him to publicly profess his treason. Tomasu's face was blood red and he walked up to the emperor and slapped him across the face. Then he spit onto him as Sing tried to return to his feet. A lengthy fight ensued with the royal guards. Tomasu killed six of them before he was successfully arrested."

Jamesu says in disbelief, "I never knew he had survived the battle. Did you witness this? What happened next?" Fong says, "I saw all of this. I was accompanied by two other staff members of Tomasu's. We were jailed with him. We received four years  hard labor for Tomasu's action. Tomasu was of course given the death penalty. Tomasu said in his cell he wished to see his beloved children and wife before he died. The guards beat us every night before Tomasu was executed. On December 30, we and Tomasu were taken to a snowy field. Tomasu was stripped of his shirt and whipped while an aide to Sing Do Sho watched. Tomasu fought back with savagery. He was like a crazed animal. He was bound but he was able to kill three guards in the may lay. When we cheered him, we were whipped as well. Eventually more troops were brought in to force Tomasu down. The emperor has ordered that Tomasu was to be drawn and quartered alive. They castrated him while he was strapped to a stone table. Then four horses were tided to each leg and arm. He yells aloud, 'I give my life for my family and nation. Destroy the tyrant!' Soon after he yelled that, the executioner orders the horses to pull him apart. Tomasu struggled to hold himself together and showed incredible power as he was able to hold off the horses first attempt to destroy him. He roared with unbelievable anger. On the second attempt, both of his arms and a leg were yanked off. He fell to the ground and was dragged for a few yards before stopping. He yelled for a few seconds, but he died quickly. It was a gruesome sight. A trooper hacked his head and hands off. The body was burned in a trash heap nearby. Sing Do Sho was presented his head and his family ring the following day. I do not know were the head is today. Myself and his other staffers were held in prison until Sing Do Sho was toppled in 2001. I have been working for a mercenary ever since."

Jamesu falls to his knees, amazed at the revelations he has just heard. Jamesu says while looking at the ground, "Meiko and Juno have never known this. Meiko always said she believed she saw her father in the royal court after the battle. She was very young and she thought it was merely a dream. She was not dreaming. She said he waved to her with sad eyes. Juno was depressed for many months after his death and took relief in the news of his heroic death. He is rarely even called Tomasu Kamihoto anymore, it's just the Great Dragon. With Sing Do Sho's fall from power my father's legend has grown. Juno knows many people in the Union Republic who claim my father as a national hero for helping save their lives after the Chiang fell. How do I tell Meiko and Juno this?" Fong says, "I can if that would help?" Jamesu replies as he stands, "No, I have to. They will be crushed. I always wondered what happened to my fathers turquoise family ring, now I know. This all makes sense. I asked my mother and Juno has asked Emperor Sanamoto about the burial place of my father. They said he was buried in the Union Republic. Juno searched last year and found nothing." Jamesu face gets red as his fury grows, "Sing Do Sho has lived a life of luxury even in his exile. My father was torn apart like a butchered chicken. I vow I will hunt you down Sing Do Sho." Fong says, "You shouldn't seek revenge yet. That could cause enormous trouble for Emperor Sanamoto. If you even confront him, you could be killed by his many troops he keeps at his palace. If Sanamoto knows you are out to kill Sing, he may banish you from the Kogasuma." Jamesu yells with anger, "I really don't care. I have been the black sheep of this family for all my life. I don't care anymore. Avenging my father is an honor above any citizenship concerns. I have to keep Juno and Meiko out of this since they do hold official rank." Fong watches as Jamesu looks at his sword, "This sword was given to me by my father when I was young, six months before his death. He said this sword belongs to a man of pure heart and noble intentions. He gave it to me knowing I would never be a noble as Juno and Meiko are since they were children of a royal wife. I shall use this very sword to take the head of Sing Do Sho." Fong watches as Jamesu turns and heads away.

Later that night Jamesu writes a letter to Juno and Meiko, stating his mission and the history he had just been informed of. He gives this letter to an old friend of his to deliver to them in twelve days. He states in this letter, he doesn't want them to follow him on his quest. He wants them to keep their royal places. He also states he wishes them to keep their distances from him if Sanamoto banished him. He hands the letter to his friends and walks into the night.
