Royal Dragon's Dilemma I

Royal Dragon sites in one of the Emperor's palace waiting room to meet someone he hasn't seen in seven years, Suko Motonaga, his future bride. This is the girl who at age eleven was given to him as a future bride by her father a wealthy Kogasuma senator. Royal Dragon has only met Suko once, at the time of the arrangement, while she was still a small girl. Royal Dragon thinks to himself, " I've been waiting for this day of all these years but I am really dreading this. What is she going to look like? How will she act? In my heart I really don't want this at all." Royal Dragon's uncle arranged this marriage, to Royal Dragon's dismay. Suko has just turned eighteen and it's been decided that both should now meet and plan a wedding. Soon a palace guard enters the room and stands at attention and says as three men and a girl enter the room, "Sir , your bridal guest have arrived."

Royal Dragon stands as they enter the room. He recognizes the older gentlemen as the senator, the other two are sons of the senator. Then he sees his future bride, Suko, for the first time in seven years. Royal Dragon feels a little embarrassed not to have anyone by his side for this event and is struck by Suko's looks, she's much more beautiful than he thought she would have been. "Suko?" Dragon asks. "Yes.....", Suko responds shyly. He immediately looks into her brown eyes while thinking "WOW!" As he greets her he observes her traditional dress, the style of her hair, her smell, her physical looks, and her slight laughter while still very nervous. As her father, the senator starts talking to him about a future wedding date, he is still taken by her almost "dreamy" glance as she looks at him. The senator wants her to move into his house as soon as possible he states, Royal Dragon agrees. The senator turns to his sons and orders, "get her bags and take them to Master Kamihoto (Royal Dragon), estate at once." Royal Dragon then extends warm wishes to his guest and bids them good night, knowing within a few days Suko will be living with him. After Suko and her family have left and Royal Dragon is heading to his estate his big dilemma creeps back into his heart, "Suko is very beautiful and really nice but I can't get this other girl out of my mind. I can't sleep since I've met her. The thoughts of this other girl are like a sickness to me. My whole future marriage could be destroyed by my lust for this other girl.....a Commando Massacre girl.......a fighter......a Warrior Monk girl by the name of Gina Nackiomi!"

After a night of thought, Royal Dragon decides to ask for advice from someone he respects and knows will keep his secret desires a secret, his master and friend Rex Peterson. He arrives at Peterson's nearby chalet and greets Peterson who is fixing some shingles on his chalet. "Good morning master", Royal Dragon yells to Peterson. "Good morning Master Kamihoto", Peterson replies. Royal Dragon walks up to Peterson and states, "I have some very personal issues I'd like to discuss with you sir. I trust you and some of what I may say may not be pleasing to hear." Peterson replies, "Okay, let's see what's on your mind. I hope I can help." Both go into the chalet and sit before a burning fireplace. "So Royal Dragon, what's your dilemma?" ,questions Peterson. "Well, it's my marriage or future marriage. I met Suko Motonaga yesterday and she was just so beautiful...more than I had imagined. My problem....I'm in love with another girl." Peterson replies, "Well that is serious. You've had this arranged marriage for over seven years now...who is this girl?" Royal Dragon sites back and slowly says, "well Master....six weeks ago I had that trip to the Union Republic...I went to a small Aikido training competition near the Commando Massacre border in the town of Shargon...I met this girl there." Peterson replies, " So she is a Aikido student from the Union Republic?" " Well...no Master, she was there to watch the event. She was from .....um...the Commando Massacres and she works within the leadership structure." Peterson a little amazed turns and asks, " Well who is it?" Royal Dragon replies, "Gina Nackiomi!" Peterson turns to Royal Dragon and places his hand on Dragon's shoulder and says, " Interesting, you know I really don't know much about her. I met her father Calvin some time ago at a Kendo competition....fair man, good man. She was probably only about sixteen at the time." Royal Dragon asks, "what do I do about my marriage to Suko. I like her, what little I've seen that is but I can't stop thinking of Gina. I don't want to marry a girl who I hardly know, making her life and mine miserable." What is your advice?" Peterson walks over to a desk and sites down and says, "Juno..this is a touchy situation. The Emperor will be furious if he finds out. Give me some time to think this over. The Emperor has always planned on this marriage to strengthen his hold on Senator Motonaga. Don't bring this up with her until we have spoken again." Royal Dragon responds, "Yes sir." Dragon leaves Peterson chalet and heads for home.

Later that night Royal Dragon returns to his home and finds Suko sitting in his living room. She is folding his cloths and states, "Good evening, I have a meal ready for you." Dragon sits down and looks around his room and notices she has cleaned the place very well. "Wow, you certainly cleaned this place. This looks great." Suko responds, "Thank you, I'll get you your dinner." Royal Dragon thinks to himself, "I have to let this poor girl know my feelings, she is so nice but I don't want to hurt her." "Suko, I have to speak with you about a very important issue, please come here." Suko walks over to Royal Dragon and sheepishly says, " What's the matter?" "Suko, what has your life been like for the past seven years? I really want to know more about you." Suko sits next to Royal Dragon and explains her life within the house of the Senator. Royal Dragon listens carefully and thoughtfully to her as she explains her schooling, her friends, and her interest. After she finishes Royal Dragon asks her politely, "did you ever have a boyfriend or some male friend you liked?" Suko, somewhat shocked at the questions response, "On no, since I was eleven I was raised to be your wife. I could have never even thought about another man, I rarely saw other boys anyway. My home was very strict about no contact with boys." Dragon sighs and turns and says, "I see". "What's the matter Juno (Royal Dragon), are you shocked I never had a boyfriend?" Royal Dragon looking into Suko's eyes and says, " Have you ever wondered about other boys or men? What if I had turned out to be a horribly abusive husband, a drunk, or a womanizer. Would you still love me?" Suko looks at Royal Dragon, confused at this line of questioning, "Why are you bringing this up. You're not a drunk, a womanizer, or abusive......do you question my sincerity?" Royal Dragon stands and says, "No...I just wanted to know what was in your heart, your feelings and your past a little." Suko stands and begins to weep as she grabs Royal Dragon, "Why would you have any doubt, have I given you any reason to think this way?" Royal Dragon responds sharply, "No you haven't" as he turns away from Suko. Suko falls to the floor and begins to cry, "I don't understand your questions and mood Juno. Why don't you like me. I have given my life to you." Royal Dragon walks out of the room thinking to himself, "Oh boy, she's very emotional, I was afraid that would happen." Royal Dragon goes to his bedroom and goes to bed. In bed he can hear Suko crying and whimpering throughout the night from the living room.

The next morning Royal Dragon arises and goes straight to Rex Peterson's chalet, determined to get more guidance. As he leaves his home he notices Suko had spent the night on his kitchen floor, balled up in a corner, still asleep. He reached Peterson's chalet within an hour and enters. Peterson greets Royal Dragon and both site. "Well how is she Juno?" Peterson asks. "Well, I did ask her about her life over the last seven years, not to interesting, actually pretty boring stuff.....she did get very upset when I asked about her feelings toward other men." Peterson responds, " Why did you even ask that, you know she was brought up in a senators house, she would have very little contact with men or boys besides her brothers?" Royal Dragon looks at the floor and replies' " I was trying to see if she was in a similar situation that I find myself in. I thought if she loved someone else she would understand my feelings and we could work something out regarding our marriage." Peterson leans his head back and says, " I see, that's understandable. Now I want to know EVERYTHING about your trip to the Union Republic and this meeting with Gina Nackiomi........."
