Vengeance at Castle Olni III

Continues from Vengeance at Castle Olni II...
Sing Do Sho laughs as Jamesu simmers at the comment regarding his father. Yamashidi says, "Well if Black Dragon has issues with killing you, I sure don't." Sing replies, "Are you going to start a war between the CM and Kogasuma? Killing me would do that." Yamashidi laughs, "You really think you're that important? You're an old has been. What has it been, five years since you ruled?" Sing barks, "Fuji would see my death as an act of war. Just surrender to these troops behind you and your lives will be spared." Jamesu sees his father's ring on Sings finger and roars, "That's my father's ring. You bastard, you wear that after all these years. What kind of a monster are you?" Sing laughs, "It reminds me of how easy the weak are brought down. Pity your father Jamesu Kamihoto, he was a national shame." Jamesu erupts in anger and slashes Sings right hand, taking Sing's fingers off. Sing howls in pain as the troops attack Yamashidi. Sing yells, "So you now will kill me and will damn you family for eternity. You have failed your father, failed your country, and I have won." Jamesu says while looking at his sword, "You see this sword? It once served you", and with a mighty blow, beheads Sing Do Sho. Yamashidi cuts down one guard as the other runs away. He yells to Jamesu, "We have get out of here soon. This place is on fire and will be filled with troops as soon as they find Sing dead." Jamesu places his fathers ring in his pocket and tries to bag Sing's head. Yamashidi yells, "Let's move, I can hear troops from the floor below." They both dart toward the utility dumbwaiter and exit the room.

As fire burns out of control, the Sun is able to craw out of the burning pit on the castles' ground floor. He roars with rage, "At one time I didn't see the sun for six years but I shall see it again. Black Dragon, you shall feel the vengeance of a thousands suns." He reaches the top of the pit  and stands, burnt and bruised. He sees the building on fire around him and roars, "I am the Sun, I am the Sun! I will burn the souls of all that challenge me." He then exits the room and lumbers down the corridor, escaping troops startled as they see this huge man running toward the fires and smoke.

The Moon watches as Valerie Fox coughs and falls to her knees as the corridor fills with a heavy smoke. A few troops try to attack her but she continues to cut and slash any that approach. She hisses, "I will not die by your swords you cowards. You have no honor." The Moon laughs and says, "Your skills with the sword are remarkable but you can't hold out forever. Time is on our side." Valerie coughs with increased difficulty as the smoke thickens. Troops on both sides of her slowly close in as she lay on the floor, looking back and forth at each side. As she can barely keep her head up, a thundering explosion rocks the building. The Moon yells, "What was that? We are being attacked." He points to four troops and says, "Let's see what happened. She (Valerie) isn't going anywhere." As the Moon and four of the palace troops exit the corridor, Valerie coughs as she lies on the floor. Seven troops remain, three on one side, four on the other. As they try to approach Valerie as she has stopped moving, three arrows strike the troops. As three troops go down, another series of arrows takes down the three more troops, leaving one troop who exits the corridor in horror. Valerie hears the troops cry in pain as this happens but is too weak to even see this. She cough and lies in a fetal position on the floor. She soon hears her sword being kicked away. She tries to move and feels a hand cover her mouth with a cloth and the whisper, "I'm here sis, lets get out of here."

The Sun and Moon soon meet in a corridor while investigating the blast. The Moon asks, "What happened here?" Seeing a corridor burning and near collapse. Several troops say the blast was from a explosive laden arrow. The Sun says, "Black Dragon Jamesu is here! He must have done this." The Moon says, "What? We have to see Sing as soon as possible. Several troops enter and say Yamashidi and Jamesu have reached the throne room." The Moon and Sun race to the top level and to the throne room as fires continue to rage.

Yamashidi and Jamesu are able to exit the dumbwaiter shaft and decide to exit the castle from the outside because the building is rampant with moving troops. They find an opening and try to climb down the many levels of the fifteen story castle. As they climb and see the smoke in the moonlit light, an arrow hits Yamashidi,  striking his he shoulder. Jamesu dodges several arrows as a group of Sing's archers have found them. Yamashidi throw a flash bomb to Jamesu and he throw it onto the archers. Jamesu says, "Are you alright brother? How deep of a wound is it?" Yamashidi grumbles, "Not too bad," pulling the arrow out, "but it will limit my motion for a bit. Damn, I was careless. We have to move fast, those archers are sure to have called for help." Jamesu helps dress the wound on Yamashidi as they both move to another location to scale down the castle.

Melinda asks the coughing Valerie, "Are you able to walk sis?" Valerie mumbles incoherently. Melinda quickly says, "I'll take that as a no." and carries her sister down the corridor. Melinda hides several times in the corners of the wooden support beams as troops run down the corridors. Valerie continues to cough, even as they reach fresher air. Valerie mumbles as Melinda makes her way to the lowest level. Suddenly four of Sing's troops run into Melinda and Valerie. One trooper say, "Who are you? What's going on here?!" Melinda looks down as Valerie within her arms and says, "I'm a bounty hunter for Emperor Sing. I'm taken this maiden out  to safety. We need more troops on the top floor. A heavy battle is underway." The troops look at each other. Melinda thinks to herself, "I'm sorry Val but I may have to drop you to take care of 'business' here." One trooper says, "Who's attacking us?" Melinda says, "Black Dragon Jamesu and Yamashidi, go, we need help." The troops run and Melinda carries Valerie outside of the castle.

The Moon and Sun reach the top level and see Eratic standing over the headless corpse of Sing Do Sho. The room is smoky and hot as the building burns out of control. The Sun roars, "Who did this! Was it Black Dragon? Who killed out leader?" The Moon says, "A women dressed as a girl in the governors party, a CM agent, fought on the fifth floor. She has a connection." A bloodied and injured Eratic yells, "Nonsense you fools, Yamashidi was here as well. He must have done this. Lord Zando called for this attack on us. He called for Sing Do Sho's killing. We have to inform Gen. Fuji at once." The Moon notices the slashed hand on Sing and says, "His ring is gone, you know the turquoise one, the Tomasu Kamihoto one." The Sun roars, "Vengeance will be ours. This attack was multi layered." Eratic says, "We have no time to determine much here. Let's get out of here and inform Gen. Fuji. Eratic orders several guards to take Sing's body away.

Melinda soon enters a forest and places Valerie on the ground. She says, "Val, you're safe now." She gently whips the blue face-paint off of her sister's face as Val cough and briefly opens her eyes. Melinda looks over her shoulder and sees Castle Olni burning out of control in the distance. She says, "I hope Yamashidi and Black Dragon were able to kill Sing." She continues to aide her sister, helping her breath better. Melinda says, "I have my horse nearby. When you are strong enough, we'll move." Melinda looks at her helpless sister curled in a fetal position and says with sadness, "I'm sorry Val. I'm sorry you were a part of this. I should have directed you in a better way of life. You have so much to offer, I almost lost you." As Melinda starts to wipe Valerie's face again, Valerie grasps Melinda wrist, with considerable strength and says with a hoarse voice, "I.....love....you! I wouldn't ...be.....anywhere without you. Never second guess my love for you or JC. I'm strong....let's ride."

Epilogue

Yamahshidi and Jamesu near the CM/Kogasuma border at daybreak on their horses. They briefly stop to nurse Yamashidi's wound. Jamesu studies the head of the tyrant Sing Do Sho and his father's ring. Jamesu says, "I will give this ring to Juno. He has so little to remember our father with. I have his sword, the very sword that I cut the tyrant down with. Meiko has our father's writings. I can't believe I finally avenged my father's murder." Yamashidi says, "We have  lot of trouble brewing because of this. The man you said you fought was one of Sing's recent disciples, a champion warrior of his. If Gen. Fuji captured the Imperial Palace, war is a real possibility. You have to notify your sister and brother to guarantee their safety." Jamesu says, "I agree, I need to contact Juno at once, but if Fuji is in power.....I don't know how we can help. I'm sure those guards have identified us." Yamashidi says as he returns to his horse, "You should come to the CM nation, I know a safe place you can stay until more is known." Jamesu says, "I feel helpless. I killed the tyrant just as his plan took effect."

Melinda and Valerie return to their cabin near dawn. JC is awoken by their return and runs out and hops with joy and kisses both of her sisters in happiness. JC says with relief, "Oh, I am so happy. My beloved sisters have returned. I am so happy!" Melinda helps Valerie off of her horse and says, "Valerie had a tough time, she has some smoke inhalation and will have to rest for a few days." Valerie says, "We just learned on our way back that Sing Do Sho was killed. The killer was unknown but chaos reigns in the Kogasuma." JC says with joy, "I'll go make breakfast! You two look as if you could use some." JC prances away with joy as Valerie turns to Melinda. Valerie says quietly, "I thought I was going to die like mom and dad, suffocating to death of that smoke. I barely was able to move and was sure if the smoke didn't kill me those troops or that Moon agent of Sing's would. I don't know how you found me but I......" Melinda interrupts, "I know Val. Just take it easy. Live every day to it's fullest." They here JC banging pots and pans together from within their cabin, trying to start breakfast, Melinda hugs Valerie.

At the Kogasuma Imperial Palace, Gen. Fuji has taken the title as emperor of the nation. He has sent Emperor Sanamoto into exile in the far western Kogasuma. Fuji spared Sanamoto's life because Sanamoto's father, Mo-Mello, was very good to Fuji during his 1986-1987 reign.

Eratic reaches the Imperial Palace a few days after Sing's death and quickly reports to Emperor Fuji's throne room. Eratic reports to Fuji, "My emperor, the murder of Sing Do Sho was directed by CM agents. We, the Sun, Moon and myself, noticed ninja Yamashidi and a lady dressed as a maiden as the CM agents as well as Black Dragon Jamesu." Fuji replies calmly, "Black Dragon Jamesu? Jamesu Kamihoto? How is he mixed up in all of this? I knew the Lord Zando had Yamashidi in the area, I have no idea on that girl though." Eratic answers, "Jamesu was spotted by the Sun. He was also spotted by several of our archers and a few troops. Yamashidi was reported injured by the archers and the fate of the girl is unknown. The castle was badly burned. We lost nearly seventy troops." Fuji curses, "Goddamnit! I never thought the Kamihoto's were a part of this." Eratic watches as Fuji paces the room. Eratic asks, "What is your next plan my emperor?" Fuji replies, "If Lord Zando wants a war, he shall have it. The CM's have been looking into invading our nation again. Sanamoto knew this and did little. That's why I sided with Sing Do Sho, he had a plan of war.....more to avenge the shame he created in 2001 when Lord Hamuru ordered the invasion. I had no love for Sing Do Sho, he had too many enemies to really return to power. Once you lost the throne, you can never regain it here. Once I had taken the (Imperial) palace, I knew I was the new emperor." Eratic questions, "Did you have stiff resistance? Did Rex Peterson or the other army units give you trouble? Fuji laughs, "It was quite easy. Peterson was away during this operation, as well as most of his agent. I have known Rex for over twenty years. Like me, he's seen leaders come and go. I doubt he will give me any trouble. He has little choice quite frankly. Where Sanamoto went wrong too was that he has so little in defense within the palace itself. I knew with Peterson away, he'd only have his palace guards and the army units within the city. I shall not make that mistake. We need to mobilize this nation for war. I will be overseeing this myself. You will be my aide Eratic. I know you had your issues with Sanamoto." Eratic answers, "He forgot me when the Shockers killed my love Heidi Dawson. Sanamoto was only worried about his beloved Royal Dragon. What do you plan to do about the Dragon family?" Fuji sits on his throne and says, "Nothing for now. We shall she if they are loyal to me or not. The monarchy here is over, they either bow to me or they will die.....pretty simple. I have an agent on them anyway. If they make any moves, I will know. In regards to Jamesu, he will have to be punished if he aided Yamashidi. If he actually killed Sing Do Sho, he's dead."
